2020 Highlights

Sarclad’s Health & Safety program reached new heights in 2020.. achieving 5 years without a lost time incident.

“I am pleased to be able to announce that thanks to everyone’s ongoing diligence and commitment to safety, we have achieved 5 years without a lost time accident. This is a great achievement and one worthy of celebration.” Richard Cowlishaw – Managing Director

To mark this momentous occasion, The Wood Fired Pizza Company were called up once again to serve a helping of freshly cooked pizza, giving the dedicated team at Sarclad a moment to acknowledge this positive achievement in what had been a very difficult year for us all.

2020 also saw the well deserved retirements of some of our long serving employees with a combined 80 years in the Sarclad team.

We bid farewell to Steve Shillito who decided to take an early retirement from his position of SCM Product Manager after an impressive 30 years in a number of positions, having started as SCM Commissioning Engineer. As the longest-standing Product/Project Manager, his extensive experience and knowledge with the SCM and with the wider business will be greatly missed.

John Elton who was also looking forward to retirement, left Sarclad at the end of August after 9 years as our Purchasing Manager. John diligently handled the business’ procurement during that period and contributed to significant savings every year.

Electrical Design Engineer Tony Gray also decided to retire and left the business at the end of September after 8 years in the Sarclad team.

Finally, Gareth Evans retired at Christmas after an amazing 33 years with Sarclad. Gareth was here at the very beginning of Sarclad’s roll texturing exploits and has been exclusively involved in EDT ever since, either as the EDT Project Manager or Research Project Manager.

We want to offer our sincere thanks to Steve, John, Tony and Gareth for their very many contributions to Sarclad over the combined 80 years that they have been part of our team, and we wish them long and happy retirements and hope that they all enjoy being able to spend more time with their families.
